Week Commencing 4th February

topic

This week we are introducing our new topic: Our Little Human Planet. We will be exploring people who help us in our lives, and looking at how our lives are the same and different compared with other children around the world. We will also talk about where we live and how to look after the world that we live in.

literacy

We are continuing to work on rhyming pairs. A lovely book to read together is Goodnight Moon. You can then talk about the rhyming pairs in the story and see if you can think of anymore together 🙂

maths

In maths we are sequencing numerals over the next few weeks. First we will sequence up to 5, then up to 10 and beyond. You can practice at home with a simple set of number cards. If you have a staircase you can place the numbers going up the stairs but put them in the wrong order. Then you can work with your child to put the numbers correctly starting from 0.

arabic1

In Arabic we will be learning about:

  • Topic: Jungle Animals (Bear).
  • Read and color the letter zay (ز).
  • Pronounce at least 3 words that contain the letter.
  • Colour: Pink

Story: قصة (الثلاث دببة).

5th February – 7th February: Tasneem Agriculture Development Trip

Next week is our trip to Tasneem Farm to look at how seeds grow and to plant our own seeds. The dates are as follows:

N3 & N5 – Monday 5th February

N4 & N7 – Tuesday 6th February

N1, N2 and N6 – Wednesday 7th February

Please could your child come to school with a small rucksack they can wear on their back with a disposable water bottle and their snack in a disposable ziplock bag.

It is a good idea for them to wear their PE uniform as it is more comfortable.

21st and 22nd February – Half term

25th February – 1st March: Book Week

Book Week will start on Sunday 25th of February and run throughout the week. We will have lots of fun activities planned including asking the children to bring in their favourite story to read aloud to their friends. In addition, a year 6 class will join us one day to read some books together. We will also be asking for parent volunteers to come and read with their child’s class during the week.

On Thursday 1st of March the whole school will have Book Character Day. Your child should come to school dressed up as their favourite book character and bring the book too for sharing if possible. The best costumes are always the homemade ones that the children have made with you. They have that special personal touch 🙂
