For week commencing Sunday, 25th February
Next week, 25th Feb-1st March is Book Week in the Infants. As part of book week, we will be focusing on stories by Roald Dahl. We would like to recommend two home learning activities for you to complete with your children over the half term break.
- Have a go at producing a short piece of Roald Dahl research (Click here for template).
- Take a picture of your child reading a book in a fun and unusual place e.g. On a horse, on a trampoline…etc. The more unusual the better but remember to stay safe! They can bring this photo to class on Sunday to share.
During the week we would love for some parents to volunteer to be our ‘secret readers’. This means you organise a time with your class teacher, then surprise the class (including your child!) by reading them a story.
As part of the weeks Literacy activities, the children will require a jar (roughly jam jar sized is suitable). Please could this be sent to school on Sunday 25th? If possible, we would prefer for these not to be made of glass and with the label peeled off.
Finally, just a reminder that the Thursday of book week will be our Character dress up day. We would like to encourage all the children to dress up as a character from their favourite book and to bring in their book to show their classmates. There will be a Year 1 parade for parents at 8am in the KS1 playground.
Have a lovely half term break!
