Week Commencing 4th March
Our new topic for this half term is ‘Once Upon a Time’. It is a theme chock full of different stories and we will be encouraging the children to re-tell the stories they know, as well as create new stories of their own. Key skills we will be working on include: sequencing events in a story using images; using gesture and voice to help tell a story; using props such as puppets to help tell a story and drawing our own images to represent a story. Different classes may cover different stories depending on the interests of the children, however, there are some core texts that we will all cover over the course of this half term. They are: The Three Little Pigs, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and The Enormous Turnip.
One version of the Three Little Pigs which follows the storyline of the traditional tale can be viewed below:
Our literacy is linked with our topic, particularly as we will be sequencing stories. If you want to have a go at home, please follow the link to the attached file to some nursery rhyme sequencing activities.
We will also be continuing to develop our rhyming skills throughout this half term. If you want some ideas of games to try at home please see the following link: https://fun-a-day.com/rhyming-activities-for-children/
In maths we will be matching a quantity to a numeral. The number 3 will be figuring frequently given the names of our stories! How many little pigs, billy goats gruff are there now? 🙂
