Week Commencing 11th March

topic

We have been busy this week working on our stories in our classes. There has been a lot of huffing and puffing going on as houses made of various materials have been blown down! It has been lovely to hear the children in the different classes retelling their stories using shadow puppets, finger puppets, while playing with the lego and much more.

Something fun to try with all stories is to think of different ways that they might end. Last week we shared the story of the Three Little Pigs following the traditional storyline. This week why not try and think of some different endings to the story? You can find one example in the video below. There’s a bonus second story as well of Goldilocks and the Three Bears 🙂

literacymaths

Rhyming continues to be a key focus for us in literacy. This week we have a little rhyming song which is all about prepositions… our maths target. You could try to act out the rhyme at home if you cut out the animals in the story. Maybe you could make up a rhyme of your own as well!

arabic1

In Arabic we will be learning:

  • Topic: Farm Animals (Hen). We will learn about the hen’s habits & where it lives and eats.
  • Read and colour the letter Dal (د) and pronounce at least 3 words that contain the letter.
  • Concept: (right , left)
  • Colour: Purple
  • Story: قصة الدجاجة الحمراء.

Reminders

Parents Meetings

All the parent teacher meetings are being held next week after school. Please make sure you are on time for your slot as the teacher has a tight schedule. If parents are late and miss their slot, we will ask you to reschedule as somebody else will be waiting.

Arabic Mother’s Day

Arabic Mother’s Day will be held on Thursday 22nd March.

All Mummies are invited to the class at 11:40 that day to come and listen to a short song and to complete a themed craft with their child in their classroom.

International Day & Last Day of Term

International day will be held on Wednesday 28th March, the last day of term. The children dress up in traditional dress or the colours from their home countries flag. This will be a shorter day than normal (time to be confirmed).

Trip to the Theatre

The Very Hungry Caterpillar trip is on Monday 16th April. All the children should be at school by 7:45 and the classroom door will be open from 7:30 for that day. This is so we can get onto the bus and depart from school by 8am.
