For week commencing Sunday, 18th March
The children have now learned by heart and written their shortened version of ‘On the Way Home’ by Jill Murphy. Make sure you get a performance at home, they were rather fabulous! This week the children will invent their own adventures, with their own exciting characters to add to the tale. The children will concentrate on creating an interesting middle part for each character using different vocabulary and adding conjunctions to add detail to sentences.
The new maths unit this week will be measuring. By the end of the week the children will be familiar with mm, cm and m. They will have estimated, measured and compared their own heights and had a go at some simple word problems involving measures.
The children continue to create a travel guide for their class country, using the information they have learned over the past weeks. This week’s main focus is human and physical features. Having learned a little about the natural features and landscapes of the habitats in their country, they will now compare these to the human or man-made features of their country. They will name famous landmarks known in their country such as the pyramids, St Basil’s cathedral, etc…
It will be a busy week this week ensuring we are all ready for our Spring show next week, how exciting!
Exciting times as costumes begin to arrive in school for the spring show. Please remember to let your child’s teacher know if they will be absent on the last week of term, w/c 25th March.

Health and Safety Matters
We have had a small number of children riding alone in the elevator in the morning time. For their own safety, the children are not permitted to do this. Please remember that if your child is alone before 7:45am in the morning, school is not responsible for their safety. Until a register is collected by the class teacher all of those unaccompanied children are unaccounted for. In the case of a fire or an accident, this is very unsafe.
