Reception

Week Commencing 13th May

literacy

This week we will be learning the mp consonant blends as in jump and lamp. See the video below which will help the children think about this new blend.

If the children would like to each bring a small mp object (labelled with their name if they want it back) or a story about a bump, going to a camp or even somebody being grumpy, the teachers would love to share them with the class.

The tricky word we will be learning is, people. In class we will be linking this to our PSED, considering the many ways people are different and the same.

maths

In Maths we will be learning about analogue cocks and how to read o’clock times. Why not try putting the clock hands in the right places for o’clock times in the game at this link http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/earlymath/on_time_game1.htm

topic

In topic we are learning about using telephones to keep in touch.  At home you could talk to your child about the reasons why you make telephone calls. There is hours of fun to be had from playing with a simple string and paper cup telephone like the one in the video below:

reminders

The Reception Corridor is getting busier on a morning before school, and on an afternoon at pick up.  This is very understandable because of the heat and parking, however, can I politely remind you that children should behave in the corridor as they do during the school day. It is a place for quiet voices and sitting, standing or walking.  Lots of children are still really enjoying more boisterous play in the playground!

Swimming Lessons will continue for Reception for the rest of this term. Please ensure towels, caps, goggles, swimming costumes etc are all labelled with your child’s name and class. It would help immensely if the goggles come to school correctly adjusted for your child.

The Reception Summer Concert will be on Thursday 21st June.
