For week commencing Sunday, 20th May
This week we will be the authors of our own adapted version of ‘The Papaya that spoke’. To make this story our own we will:
- Change the main character
- Change the other characters and settings where they meet
- Change the fruit
- Add exciting adjectives
- Change the verbs
At the end of the week we would love to share our writing with you! On Wednesday or Thursday afternoon we will open our doors a little early to give the children the opportunity to read their work to you. Please see your class teacher for which day this will be happening.
In maths this week we will be continuing with place value work. We will be looking at counting on and back from any given number within 100. We will also be looking at using the language greater than, less than and equal to when describing number relationships.

In Topic this week we will be extending our learning of the Gunpowder Plot to explore Bonfire Night and why people in the UK celebrate it. We will look at the link between Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night, learn all about bonfire safety and begin to explore the different kinds of fireworks. We will finish the week by creating our very own firework art!
