Week Commencing 27th May
This week we will be learning the fl consonant blend as in fly and flute. There is a short story with lots of words with the fl sound in it that you can read together at home. See the video below:
Can you find any more fl words at home that you can add to the list at the end of the story?
If the children would like to each bring a small fl object (labelled with their name if they want it back) or a story about a fly, a flower or a flute, the teachers would love to share them with the class.
In Maths we will be learning about estimation. We will be guessing how long things are and how heavy things might be. You can use anything to measure how long something is as long as the unit of length remains the same. You might measure how many lego blocks long something is… or how many baseball caps long something is… as long as the baseball caps are all the same size. Maybe you can have some fun at home guessing how long some of the things are in different rooms before checking with your chosen unit of measure 🙂
We start our new topic this week: ‘Getting Warmer’. We will be looking at the weather this week and linking it to the animals you will find in our concert at the end of the year. What is the weather like where they live?
To get things started this is a simple song about some of the different kinds of weather that we experience and how they may make us feel:
Swimming Lessons will continue for Reception for the rest of this term. Please ensure towels, caps, goggles, swimming costumes etc are all labelled with your child’s name and class. It would help immensely if the goggles come to school correctly adjusted for your child.
The Reception Summer Concert will be on Thursday 21st June.
