For week commencing Sunday, 27th May
This week we will plan and write a story based on air transport to complement all we have learned in our Topic lessons. Our character will visit a number of different habitats on a special mission, describing the habitats they travel to. When they write the beginning, middle and end of their stories, the children will use conjunctions and ENPs to extend, try to add a range of openers for their sentences including –ly adverbs and time conjunctions and they will try to include a range of punctuation including , ! and ?
Over the next 2 weeks, we will be tackling a range of word problems and reasoning problems. We must read carefully, find the keywords and establish the correct operation to use (X ÷ + -).

This week we learn about Neil Armstrong and the race for space. Who was first to land on the moon and how difficult was it to get there. We will be writing letters to NASA to see if we can convince them that we too would make excellent astronauts.

SUN HATS AND WATER BOTTLES
It is currently pretty hot outside and we need all children to be wearing a hat while on the playground. Children now only play outside for 1 break time in the earlier part of the day and have their second playtime indoors. To keep them safe and healthy we ask that all children bring a hat and a water bottle to school to ensure they stay cool and hydrated.
VISITORS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
If for whatever reason, parents are entering the school building during the school day, they must first report to the Infant School Reception. To ensure the safety of your children, we must know who is in the building at all times and why. Please ensure you wear your parent’s pass when onsite.
A reminder that all snack boxes should be full of healthy snacks to restore the children’s energy throughout the day. Chocolates, crisps and biscuits are not a good addition to snack boxes. Also be aware that the children have 2 snacks of 15minutes and 20minutes duration. Do consider how much food you feel your child will need for both snacks.
