Week Commencing Wednesday 20th June
Until the end of the year we will be continuing to revise digraphs we have encountered this year, including ai, oa and er. As usual Geraldine the Giraffe and Mr Thorne can help the children’s learning in the videos below:
We will be reviewing the tricky words we have already encountered, particularly focusing on writing them correctly.
In Maths we will be focusing on number 10. How 10 looks different depending on 10 of what and how 10 can be made up of different numbers! A home challenge could be to make as many different two coloured towers of 10 blocks – the teachers would love to see a photograph of them!
In topic we are continuing to learn about the weather and heat, and how these might just affect summer holiday plans! There might be a little bit of dancing and singing practice for our concert, too.

The Reception Summer Concert, “Going to The Zoo,” will take place on Sunday 24th June at 11am in the Multi-Purpose Hall. To ensure you get a good seat, or a coveted place on the carpets at the front, it might be worth arriving about 10.45am. Once the children have finished performing they can be collected from their classrooms and taken home. Please note, however, that the school buses will operate at the usual times.
Class Parties will take place on Wednesday 27th June. Children will be able to come to school in party clothes and enjoy a shared lunch. Class teachers will send out details nearer the time. If your child is not be going to be in school for the party it would be helpful if you could let the class teacher know in advance.
Transition to Year 1
There will be transition activities on Monday 25th, Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th from 7.45 – 8.15am. These will include visiting Year classrooms and meeting Year 1 teachers.
Children’s work will be coming home on Tuesday 26th June. Please can each child bring a large strong carrier bag to school to put the work in.
