In Literacy the children will build on using adjectives to write descriptive sentences. They will look at what makes a good friend. They will write an invitation to another year 2 class, explaining
- What makes them special?
- Why they are a good friend?
- Why would the other class want to meet them?
The children will end the week reading with a buddy from the class they invited. At home can you make a list of adjectives describing a good friend?
In Maths the children will look at the place value of numbers. They will use concrete methods to identify efficient methods to help them count objects. They will begin to use Tens and Ones with a Part-Whole model to help them partition numbers.
Have a go at chanting the number bonds to 10, odd and even numbers and count in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
As part of Healthy Eating Week the children will engage in a number of different activities. Discussing what makes a healthy balanced diet and creating a healthy lunchbox.
The children will look at a map of the world and locate the continents and oceans. They will then look at lunch boxes from around the world.
During snack time, the children will discuss what they have in their lunchbox and self assess whether their snack shows a balance diet. Each day they will score their snacks a mark out of 5.
The children will certainly enjoy Topic this week as they will be making a healthy treat for them to eat!
Infant Welcome Meeting
On Monday 10th September @ 6.00pm we will be hosting a welcome evening that gives you chance as a parent to come in and meet your class teacher. This evening will be filled full of information regarding the curriculum and coming events.
