For week commencing Sunday, 23rd September
In Literacy this week we will begin to look at stories with a familiar setting.
What does familiar mean and what is a setting?
The children will look at the story Harry and the Dinosaurs go to School. If you have this book at home, why not bring it to school and share it with your class.
The children will be thinking of interesting adjectives to describe Harry’s appearance and personality. The children will attempt to retell the story through drama and to sequence the story in the correct order, by using time conjunctions.
Do you know what a time conjunction is?
In Maths this week the children will continue to look at representing numbers. They will use a place value chart to help them to represent numbers.
This chart shows the number 48
The children will revisit the greater than >, less than < and same as = signs. This will involve many practical activities, where the children will have the chance to use concrete objects to help them compare numbers.

- Are you practising counting in 2, 5 and 10?
- Can you count in 10’s starting from any number? E.g 3, 13, 23, 33 etc
- Do you notice a pattern?
After our sparkly start to Beautiful Bahrain on Tuesday, the children will begin this week by sharing what they would like to learn about Bahrain. They will conduct some research during ICT to find out key information about Bahrain.
They will also be looking at the map of Bahrain to try and locate key places in Bahrain. We will also be exploring the physical features in Bahrain

During their art lesson, the children will be looking at the artwork from Bahraini artist Rashid Al Khalifa. They will attempt to replicate his artwork by looking at different blending techniques, involving oil.
