In Literacy this week we are going to begin learning about stories from other cultures, by exploring the story “Handa’s Surprise”. We will discuss differences and similarities between this setting and that of other stories, and continue the week by investigating the different animals and fruits that are in the story. We will also revisit our sequencing work, by putting the story in order, and practise using adjectives to describe all of the fruit.
In Maths this week we are investigating shapes! We will begin by looking at the 2D shapes that we know, before learning about other 2D shapes. We will practise sorting them according to whether their sides are straight or curved, and then move on to learning about 3D shapes. We will finish the week by going on a 3D shape hunt around the school!
To help your child, see what shapes they can find around your home!
This week in Topic we will continue our learning of celebrations around the world, and look at Carnival in Rio! We will start by learning all about Carnival and why it happens, and spend the rest of the week designing, making and evaluating our own Carnival masks!
Please remember to bring a water bottle and hat to school everyday.
Next week is Parent-Teacher meetings. Due to this, there will be no after-school clubs next week. They will resume WC Sunday 18th November.
