Year 1 Bulletin

This week the children will be learning how to write instructions. They will learn about the main features of instructions including time connectives and imperative (bossy) verbs. To help the children to achieve this they will complete many different practical activities using Pie Corbet actions to help them remember. Ask your child to show you the actions for the following time connective;

First, Next, Then, After that & Finally

This week the children will be revising and consolidating everything they have learnt this term. Take the time at home to let your child teach you what a whole part model is and how to use it, what a ten frame is and how to use it, explain that a 2 digit number is made of tens and ones and that the tens is the first digit and the ones the second digit.

Below are some useful websites and videos to support your child at home; – to help with mental maths – to help with mental maths – using the whole part model – using the whole part model – using the whole part model

This week we will continue our cultural exploration around the world by learning all about Christmas. In particular the learning will focus around the history of the Christmas tree and its symbolic gesture. Building on from this the children will learn and classify evergreen and deciduous trees.
